Woodbridge Mills

We are very fortunate in Woodbridge in that we have two of probably the finest examples of mills in the country a tide mill and a wind mill both within walking distance of each other. The town itself is well worth a visit with its historic waterfront and buildings. We have a Farmers Market on the second and third Saturday of the month from 9-1.00 and you can see my self and my wife Sue there. You can also find us at Snape Malting's on the first Saturday of the month. Come along and see us we will make you welcome and you can try some of our samples.

Buttrum's Mill is probably the pinnacle of Victorian windmill engineering . Built in 1836 it was one of the last windmills to be built.

After a few years when the corn laws where repealed and imported grain was cheaper than local grain, country milling was largely replaced by the roller mills.

Located in the main ports like Ipswich and Felixstowe they had easy access to the sea and larger populations

The mill is a product of the famous Suffolk millwright John Whitmore.

The machinery inside is mainly intact
